Status: New idea

I'm an Android user so I'm not sure what the situation is for IOS but, on Android at least, you can't change download location. This is really annoying as I have to constantly move files after downloading. Please fix this.

This is a super basic functionality, please don't abandon our needs.

I had thought this already existed!  Maybe I'm just thinking about Windows.  In any case, a simple change-of-directory-path would do the trick.  We need a way to use the SD card and save space on the internal storage.

Hello it's 2025 and your company is being funded >$500 million per year. Please use 0.01% to allow download location to be changed like any other browser allows you to do

I would also like this feature.

At least a popup that asks me to choose where my download goes.

Unfortunately, after over 3 years of Firefox on android, this feature is still not available.

Please ignore above "workarounds" as they're things that are just as quickly performed manually each and every time after letting Firefox download wherever it wants. As of June 2025, the closest thing to a working 'workaround' is:

1. Download an Android browser that is NOT firefox (literally any- I've even used a couple from GitHub that weren't made for anyone other than the creator to use, they ALL have this). 2. Set this new browser as default web browser in Android settings. 3. Go into that browser's in app settings.

Three easy steps, super sad, but there you go.

That's it. I've had enough. I won't support a project that ignores simple user requests like this.

Cancelled all my donations. Why should I pay my money just for it all to go to the CEO on top pocketing millions?

What a shame. Absolute disgrace to the Firefox and Mozilla brand.

It's baffling that this feature has never been added to the current Firefox for Android when it was a thing before the complete rewrite.

A feature like this doesn't cost even 1% of the money used by Mozilla on each "rebrand" they do. It's ridiculous already.

This has been a basic browser feature since netscape. How did it get missed for the new firefox android? I don't know of any other browser that is missing this feature.

FYI it's now available on Nightly: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2019009

no, it's not available on nightly. we're talking about 'ask where to save files' not the default download location. this is actually crazy.

so basically, let me get this straight. every time i download a file, unless i want EVERYTHING to go in the same folder (use case for default download location), i have to download it, exit firefox, open my file manager and MANUALLY move the file to the place i wanted it to go to begin with.... and you think this is OKAY??? THIS IS COOL??? this thread has been up for 3 YEARS you literally already have this feature on desktop. what is the malfunction? what don't you get? no... you're doing it on purpose... that's the only way this makes sense... you want us to suffer. I'm sorry but i can't suspend my disbelief enough to account for the iq score low enough to explain why this feature hasn't been implemented in the year of our lord 2026... you probably don't believe in the lord thats why, thats the reason you cant do it, wont do it, you worship satan

I usually never post on that kind of thread but downloading multiple files on firefox is a nightmare.androie files manager is most of the time boring enough to not want to go in there, but if you dl with firefox you will learn to hate it more.
