Extra Tab to right or left that shows any tab that is playing Video or Audio in addition to original tab remaining in place. sometimes a tab will just start playing on its own and it is a PITA to find it.. ya too many tabs But so what.   I would like to suggest a box to the right that might say "Now Playing" that pops up when something is playing in one of the tabs.. Then click on the "Now Playing" Box for a list of tabs playing with choice to click on one and go to that tab OR just close that tab from the "Now Playing" Box

You are Welcome for the Excellent Idea in Advance 😉

Dennis, I have heard that Firefox View already shows an icon next to tabs that are playing media? Not sure if this only applies to tabs that are actively playing, or would include paused media, however.

I like the idea of having a method to quickly find any tab that is playing audio, as I have had this issue myself. But this 'now playing' section would need to only include tabs that are actively playing for this to work. otherwise if you had 20 media sites open but paused when something starts playing, then you would still need to check through a lot of paused tabs.

I am also not sure about having this section in the tab bar? Generally I only have one media site open and know where it is, so don't need the clutter of a duplicate tab that would only be useful for me personally occasionally. Especially if it means extra presses of ctrl+tab etc.  to get past it when cycling through tabs?

So how about instead a 'playing media' section in Firefox View, to go along with the pre-existing "Open tabs" and "Recently closed tabs" etc. sections?

Firefox View can already be accessed via a button that can be placed at the top of the screen, or via the Tools menu.

So in a nutshell, my vote would be for any such 'now playing' sections to go in Firefox View, and for it to only include tabs that are currently actively playing.

But by all means add a 'now playing' section to the tab bar if other users want it there, but in that case please make it optional and also place it in Firefox View.

In fact, wherever these sections go, would it be better to have a section only for tabs that are currently playing audio, with possibly a separate one for those playing any kind of media? If the main purpose of this idea is to be able to findd tabs that are playing audio, then it would not help if multiple tabs that are playing embedded silent videos were also on the list.
