It would be great if there was a way to customize hotkeys.
Here's how I see it:
 * Have a about:hotkeys panel, with all actions listed, and already mapped shortcuts shown.
 * Whether these should be modifiable or not is up to the dev community, ideally they'd be.
 * When clicking on a hotkey field, ideally, there would be a capturing hotkey feature, or, before this, an AHK like syntax to define hotkeys (not as complex, something like: CTRL+H means this and MAJ+ALT+END means that...)

 * a restore to default button.
 * Done.

It can't be done with an extension because some function can't be accessed by extensions (I'm actually looking for a way to send tab to other device while browsing with TST.). Anyway, I believe this should boost productivity in a number of ways. You guys are devs, you know keyboards are faster than mice. 😛

edit: Corrected the typos, it's been bugging me for months now😅

Keyboard shortcut of screenshot should be customizable.

Because default combination (Ctrl + Shift + S) is often used in some websites.

That's a good idea -- in fact, I think all Firefox shortcuts should be customizable.

But for the moment, is the problem that you aren't able to take a screenshot, or that the site doesn't work correctly?

Options for Taking a Screenshot when Ctrl+Shift+S does not Work

There is an optional toolbar button for screenshots -- it looks like a pair of scissors. You also can right-click a blank area of the page and click Take Screenshot. More info in the article: https://support.mozilla.org/kb/take-screenshots-firefox

Note: Some sites override the right-click context menu. Hold down the Shift key when right-clicking to bypass their override.

Sites Replacing Built-in Keyboard Shortcuts

Sites can intercept and replace many shortcuts in Firefox, but possibly they need to use slightly different programming code to do that in Firefox.

If you are thinking of a particular site where you have this problem, you could have them take a look at the following demo page showing how to prevent Firefox from receiving a keyboard shortcut: https://www.jeffersonscher.com/res/keyvents.html (put s in the box for Ad hoc testing to see what the script does to prevent Firefox Screenshots from running).

Pointing devices with many buttons allow shortcut keys to be entered with a single click. If shortcut keys can be customized, it is possible to unify shortcut keys for frequently used functions of different applications, thereby increasing operating efficiency.

Some hotkeys can be annoying thing in browser, games for example or if you just a press wrong button. if you want to press ctrl+w (in many games it uses to crouch forward move) it closes browser tab. so it would be nice to have a switch some browser hotkeys in settings tab

Yes, customizable keyboard shortcuts are important to modern workflows. It allows for streamlining  hotkeys between the different browsers you use, for instance.

I've wanted to be able to customize hotkeys for years. On different OSs, the shortcuts can be different, which can get confusing. I've also had the shortcuts change for some reason. Being able to customize them would be very useful.

Allow to customize keyboard shortcuts

It would be great to natively handle the binding / unbinding of custom shortcuts.

The one shortcut I really want to change is "open a new window in private mode", it's "cmd + shift + p" on Firefox while it "cmd + shift + n" on all other major browsers.
It can be a big frustration when you switch from another framework to Firefox.

Also, with the rising usage of VSCode in the browser (via https://github.dev, https://vscode.dev or https://stackblitz.com/), we want to be able to use "cmd + shift + p" to open the command palette.

Can't wait to have this in firefox. One of the things that's only keeping me in Chromium Vivaldi was the customizeable hotkeys, allows me to browse the web efficiently in my own way and this took me away from Firefox. I wanted to use FF again, but without user customizability I can't see myself using FF for long

I second these. I find it really really annoying that Firefox uses different keyboard shortcuts to others I'm used to and I'd ike to change it.

This is a must for me. I know it sounds petty, but I need certain shortcuts on desktop to work more efficiently for me, and because I can't remap at least one specific shortcut for an add-on, I switched to another browser. I believe in what Mozilla is doing, and in a more diverse ecosystem of browsers, but please make your browser more customizable... It's well within your reach, you own everything about it...

I would love to see hotkeys be configurable. Using browser extensions to do this is imperfect, due to the limitations of extensions (can't be used in the new tab window, or on certain pages, potential privacy risks, etc.). Hotkey configuration should be a basic feature of any piece of software, so I hope it gets added to Firefox.
