It would be great if there was a way to customize hotkeys.
Here's how I see it:
 * Have a about:hotkeys panel, with all actions listed, and already mapped shortcuts shown.
 * Whether these should be modifiable or not is up to the dev community, ideally they'd be.
 * When clicking on a hotkey field, ideally, there would be a capturing hotkey feature, or, before this, an AHK like syntax to define hotkeys (not as complex, something like: CTRL+H means this and MAJ+ALT+END means that...)

 * a restore to default button.
 * Done.

It can't be done with an extension because some function can't be accessed by extensions (I'm actually looking for a way to send tab to other device while browsing with TST.). Anyway, I believe this should boost productivity in a number of ways. You guys are devs, you know keyboards are faster than mice. 😛

edit: Corrected the typos, it's been bugging me for months now😅

I would like the option to turn off ALL SHORTCUTS!!!  I am older and have CLUMSY fingers, AND I NEVER use shortcuts anyways, so it is just a PAIN for me and my clumsy fingers!!!!

I I've just started to use Firefox in my work. It is nice, but default hotkeys is very annoying and I was surprised not too see a 'natural' way to change it. So, I'd like to support this topic.

This feature is still highly requested. Instead of baking AI into every corner why not implement basic functions...

Adding another voice. Please please PLEASE implement configurable hotkeys. It's long-awaited, much requested - entirely unlike any kind of AI integration. PLEASE give us configurable hotkeys!

On the same go - OK, AI is implemented, but PLEASE make it an opt-in or at minimum give us an opt-out in settings. Not all of us want AI.

Hello!! Making sure all y'all are aware an MVP for Customizable Hotkeys is live, and we need your real-world feedback to help us scope version 2 (coming later this year). Learn more and please join in the discussion here.

I also want to sincerely thank you for your advocacy and creativity in this thread (and others). Your ideas and examples helped us get started, and we've already put many, MANY more in a feature backlog for future consideration. Help us keep the momentum going, and decide what would be most helpful and feasible to do next!

@KimB

This is a massive win for accessibility !

I thank the team for coming through on this one !

First thing I'm going to do when I try this is

change CTRL+SHIFT+W from close window

To undo close tab !

Yay !

I applaud bringing this functionality to the public. However, the current implementation is deficient in at least two ways and I cannot use it to handle my scenario.

I use Linux at the terminal and I have learned to use ctrl-shift-x/c/v for cut/copy/paste. However, in Firefox, using ctrl-shift-c activates a VERY annoying popup for DOM and Style Inspector (very annoying when it is not my intention to bring up Inspector). This forces me to be constantly switching mental models for cut/copy/paste:

- Think: "I'm using a terminal, so use ctrl-shift-x/c/v"
- Think: "I'm using Firefox, so use ctrl-x/c/v"

The current keyboard customization interface is deficient:

  • I cannot map multiple key combinations to the same function (e.g. both ctrl-c and ctrl-shift-c).
  • There appears to be a bug which prevents me from mapping ctrl-shift-c to Copy and/or ctrl-shift-x to Cut. I can create the mapping, but it doesn't work. However, for some unknown reason, after mapping ctrl-shift-v, I can use *both* ctrl-v and ctrl-shift-v to Paste.

Thank you very much for this feature, which addresses accessibility issues and responds to more exotic keymap like mine.

 However, the CTRL + ALT + Z shortcut to show/hide the side panel is missing.

 Best regards
