Too often I have to open the history manager to find the history item I'm looking for because not enough items are listed in history. It would be better if when I click the history button, way more items were listed. It would be even better if the number of history items shown is customizable. I looked for extensions/addons and about:config settings to add or change in order to fix this, but couldn't find anything, so I'm making a request here. See screen shot if you are confused what I'm talking about.

Botaine, in the meantime you could create a smart bookmark and place it somewhere convenient within your bookmarks folders.

Smart bookmarks work similarly to the "Last 7 days" and "January" folders that you might see in the History library. That is, they are special folders that query the database and show a list of results that match a specified search criteria.

To create a smart bookmark that shows the 25 most recently visited sites, create a bookmark somewhere, enter a name in the field and in the URL field enter:
place:queryType=0&sort=4&maxResults=25

Restart Firefox for it to take effect, and this bookmark will act like a folder that shows the last 25 visited sites, newest first.
(and you can increase the "maxResults" value if you want it to show a larger number of recent sites)
