Haptic feedback on Macbook trackpad

It seems that starting from version 158.0, haptic feedback was added on MacBooks when performing a two-finger swipe left or right to navigate back or forward between pages. It feels terrible—so much so that I initially thought my trackpad was malfunctioning. I only found out it was introduced in the latest update thanks to a Reddit thread. Please allow users to disable this feature, as it is extremely unpleasant.

I am having the same issue. I love firefox but it is that bad that I am going to have to start using a different browser unless this is fixed

I thought I was going insane, good to know it was an actual change. I'd also love to be able to disable this somehow.

I worked around this annoyance with BetterTouchTool:

1. Open about:config, find widget.disable-swipe-tracker and set it to true. This turns off Firefox's native swipe-to-navigate gesture, and the haptic click goes away with it.
2. In BetterTouchTool, add two trackpad gestures that apply only to Firefox:
   • 2 Finger Swipe Left → Send ⌘ → to active app (Cmd + Right Arrow = Forward)
   • 2 Finger Swipe Right → Send ⌘ ← to active app (Cmd + Left Arrow = Back)

Now swiping navigates back and forward again, with no haptic click.

Or just import the two gestures: copy the JSON below, select Firefox in the left sidebar of BetterTouchTool (add it with "+" if it's not there), open the Trackpad section and press ⌘V. Don't paste them into the global section, or they will also fire in other apps (in text editors ⌘←/⌘→ jumps to the start/end of the line).
