Allow users to report the spam bots clogging up this website.

I posted a discussion and the four comments i got in response were all clearly ai written spam trying to hawk their dumb products. It's extremely concerning that these bots are just running loose on this website and there's nothing I as a user can do to stop it. It would be nice to know that mozilla is aware of and is doing something about the spam bots trying to overtake this website and fill it with advertisements, and being able to report a user for being a spam bot would be a good start.

Hey @orderofthetriad, users can actually report spam by clicking the drop-down arrow in a post/comment and selecting 'report inappropriate comment' then just add "spam" in the comment field - and it's super helpful because we're trying to cut down on the amount of spam that lands in here.

that circle with a checkmark is a BUTTON? it's literally low-contrast grey and looked like a "verified" symbol, why would anyone ever click that thinking it's a button? Why use a verified symbol in place of literally any other KNOWN symbol that meant to be an intractable button? Why not a meatballs or kebab or bento symbol? who designed that and thought it was a good idea?

To be fair, if you do a "mouse over", at last it shows the info "Show Option Menu". It IS a bit small though, and could easily be missed when concentrating on the content, as most users do. I think the V in it is supposed to represent a "drop-down" symbol, like in many UI designs.

I agree though,  it could be a bit more prominent.

I never moused over it because I never registered it as a button because it doesn't look like one, simple as.

FYI: It is actually coded as a FLEXBOX, a CSS stylesheet object, manipulated by Java Script code. It can be any shape, e.g. a box outline.  If you ever noticed in an Outlook email, there are 4 boxes marked REPLY, REPLY ALL, FORWARD, then a small box marked with 3 dots. Mouse-over shows "other actions", that you can select.

This conversation is detracting from the main point of the post: Even when reporting the "self promoted link spam" NO ACTION appears to be taken to remove them, or ban any offending accounts.

Apologies, I did not notice that you were the OP on this subject. I was getting mixed up with another comment in this and another post that said nothing was being done (might have been @TechHorse  on 2nd FEB). It looks like the Option Menu Drop-down has been there for some time, but you seem to be unhappy with it, even though it functions OK and has a selectable option for reporting inappropriate content. Which is your main concern here, the inaction, or the drop-down design?

Hello, yes, I spotted the drop-down, and I have used it several times, especially to report about post #138144.

This has several obvious thread post hijacks, where they pretend to "agree" with the OP, then add a link to their own website, which is TOTALLY irrelevant to the topic in the post. However, I don't think any action has been taken, either to remove the offending post, OR ban the offending account. 

Surely this is against your Forum Rules? As it currently is, the CONNECT discussion forum is quickly declining in usefulness, quality, and reputation.

The support site rarely has these kinds of posts, so my suggestion would be to adopt its policy of pre-moderating non-whitelisted domains before they appear on the forum.

I now know how to report spam comments (why is that the symbol firefox chose to use for an intractable button?) and have reported WAY TOO MANY. All of them have links in their comments or posts.

Mozilla needs to step up and manually moderate anything with a non-approved link in it. I should not be wasting hours of my life reporting tens of comments that are all obviously AI spam with links in them that y'all at mozilla could have already made an program to flag them automatically to be manually moderated. I don't like doing free labor on behalf of a website that can and should handle this themselves. 

By commenting on this post, this post will now be at the beginning of the discussions forum when sorted by recent (the default) this is something spam bots are clearly taking advantage of. Old OLD posts are being brought back to the first page of discussions because spam bots will respond to any post no matter how old or irrelevant they currently are.

ok, but you're an employee, surely you can do backend work, like not allowing comments or posts with links to non-approved domains to post without manual moderation from you guys. it would save everyone a lot of work
