If I have mail sorted by sender, and then want to resort by date, it always starts by sorting with oldest date first. Then I have to re-click the Date column to sort by newest first. I'd rather have newest date first, sender by ascending alphabetical...

Currently, there's no way of knowing if threading is enabled for a folder unless you scroll down to a message thread and see the thread icon. The thread icon in the column headers should change color or background to indicate when it's turned on.
