Make default sort order selectable

If I have mail sorted by sender, and then want to resort by date, it always starts by sorting with oldest date first. Then I have to re-click the Date column to sort by newest first. I'd rather have newest date first, sender by ascending alphabetical order, size by largest first, etc. Also, the currently selected email should appear at the top of the list when the sort order is changed, not at the bottom.
