xHE-AAC

Hello Mozilla Community,

more and more broadcasters use xHE-AAC, a codec from Fraunhofer. On Android devices, Firefox unfortunately does not accept xHE-AAC, although the decoder has already been integrated in Exoplayer since Android 9. So the operating system can do it.

On my Samsung phone, Chrome, Edge and the standard Samsung Media Player decode xHE-AAC, but not Firefox.I would be happy if the community could close this gap.

A xHE-AAC decoder has been built into Android since Android 9.
