Can we have the opportunity to add a wallpaper in the new tab view? Like chrome or edge, that you can upload a picture and use it as a background in the new tab.
I'm on linux - and it looks like the new tab page is compressed in a jar file as part of the snap package. My guess is that any change to the page would not persist when during snap refresh. Creating a 'chrome' directory and putting html+css files in there might work with a change in about:config to specify the location for the custom page. Just a thought.
Let us change the background color / picture for new tab without needing an add-on
I really really hate just the default white and I know I'm not the only one. None of the add-ons that are supposed to change it work for me. I don't see why I can't just go to themes and change more than only the toolbar. In chrome I could just go to themes and change the entire window. It really doesn't need to be this hard. Seems like a super basic option and I don't understand why it hasn't been implemented yet.
Happy to officially update the status of this feature to 'In development'🙌
If you haven't seen it yet, the Firefox team recently added a post 'Here's what we're working on in Firefox' here on Connect about some of the exciting features currently in the works — including new tab wallpapers!
A big thanks again to all of you for your feedback and insights, they really have played an important role in pushing a lot of this work forward.
So please feel free to keep the conversation going and stay tuned for more updates.
There is a great lack of the ability to add your own wallpapers as well. I understand that the firefox logo may not always be visible in different wallpapers. Is it really impossible to find a solution to this problem and provide users with this feature?
