Type to Search should keep all matches highlighted

When doing a page search, there is an option to highlight all matches.

This will work to keep all matches highlighted when you initiated the search by CTRL+F.

However, if you initiate the search by just typing, WITHOUT doing CTRL+F, then it will still highlight all matches, by the highlighting disappears as soon as the search bar disappears. They can be brought back if you F3; but that's a pain.

Why doesn't it keep showing all matches, when that is the option selected??
