The ability to turn off Firefox Suggestions in the iPhone app and delete associated data

Hello, I’ve turned off Firefox suggestions and search suggestions in my desktop and laptop browsers and cleared all history and cached data from my account, yet Firefox suggestions still shows up on the iPhone app with data that’s supposed to have been deleted. Where is the data coming from and how do I turn off Firefox suggestions in the iPhone app? I’m using an iPhone 14 Pro.

This needs sorting out. It's unacceptable that 'Firefox Suggest' cannot be turned off in iOS. I'll be changing browser.

This really needs fixing. The fact that I’m getting sites I only visit in private tabs suggested to me in normal browsing with no way of turning this off is outrageous.

The whole reason I use private tabs is to not have data stored yet it’s being stored AND suggested back to me! ill conceived by the Firefox team.

Here with an update...

I was able to ask around and confirm what the issue (or really, confusion) is. There is actually no way to currently disable Firefox Suggest in mobile as these are sourced from History and Bookmarks stored locally. The setting you are seeing is to turn off Google Search Suggestions—learn more about that here.

So this is really important feedback that many prefer the option of not seeing Firefox Suggest at all. We are tracking this internally as a feature request and will move this thread to the Ideas board here on Connect—feel free to continue voting and sharing your input.

Ya man I don't think anyone wants the porn they look up private browsing to be a suggested website in normal browsing. Not really a feature request so much as an oversight patch.

I wouldn't qualify this as a 'feature request'. It's more a request to remove unwanted and unnecessary functionality that suddenly appeared without any prior announcement...

I will not be using Firefox until this "Firefox Suggest" issue is completely fixed. This "feature" should have existed from the start, especially coming from a "Privacy-oriented" company.

Any chance there’s been an update on this? Bout ready to swap to safari. Firefox suggestions are something I don’t want, and the private browsing tabs are useless.

Add option to disable Firefox suggests

This current feature is on by default. I would like the ability to turn it off. It’s also pulling from history in private browsing tabs and it makes private browsing useless.

The major issue here is that Firefox Suggest is pulling from DELETED history.

It’s annoying that some random site I visited months ago is being auto filled/suggested ahead of the sites I actually want to visit. But what’s really frustrating is that clearing my history and all Firefox data doesn’t fix this. 

So clearing my data doesn’t actually clear the data? That’s a bad look for a browser touting its focus on privacy. 

Listen, Legos are cool and all, but I didn’t mean for that Lego rabbit hole I went down once to haunt me forever.
