Firefox apparently does not allow users to designate Tabs to open upon Start-up.  It re-opens the tabs that were open on the previous session.  Sometimes a second Firefox Window is opened either intentionally or unintentionally.  The first Window is closed first at end of session, but the second Window is still open.  When the second is closed, those Tab(s) re-open on the next session.  This is frustrating because it is the first Window that I want re-opened in the next session.  My taskbar on my laptop never alerts me how many Firefox Windows are open, so the frustration happens all too often.  Please, let the user enter desired Tabs to be re-opened in the next session.

Firefox, like every web browser that I have used does allow you to choose the sites that come up when you open it. Go to Settings - General - Startup and uncheck Open previous windows and tabs. Then at Settings - Home - New Windows and Tabs you will find the place (Custom URLs.....) to enter the URL of the web page or pages that you want to see. You can either enter the URLs by hand and separated by a vertical line character (shifted backslash) or there are several buttons that allow things like the current URLs to be automatically entered.

Many thanks to Paul A. Your solution resolves my frustrating problem on my laptop in which all-too-often a second Firefox window is opened without my knowledge, and then when I close the first window, the phantom second window controls when I launch the next day. It's great on my laptop because my number of open tabs is small and they do not change very often. The opposite is true on my desktop computer. I have more tabs open and they can vary from day to day. So I'm not changing Firefox settings on my desktop, but no problem because I don't get a phantom second window. Thanks again! I still wish Mozilla would allow users to designate tabs (as does the Edge browser). 4 Dec 2023. JayDub
