Status: New idea

Currently I'm doing research on a heap of products, and collating into an online spreadsheet. I'm wearing out the Ctrl+Tab keys flicking back and forth, copying/pasting etc!

It would be awesome to "pop-out" a tab and have it "float" on top like what Picture-in-Picture does. I know you can the tab in a new window, resize it, move it etc but it still doesn't stick on-top and has borders that take up space.

I've seen extensions that try to do split screen for tabs but they don't seem to work very well. Thanks!

Making moves

Hi @asafko - Sorry, I thought you were a larger team. I look at the changelog for each new version and I keep hoping to see some significant changes.

While I do see improvements lately, it's mostly compatibility or some performance ones. I do like the List all tabs shortcut with search and such, but Firefox is playing catch-up and needs to focus on features. It's a stable browser, unlike Vivaldi, so perhaps less bug fixes for the next months and more new features (tab groups, split screen in same tab, right click a tab > move tab to an existing window, etc.), then focus on speeding it up even more, then back to bug fixes, compatibility, etc.

Also, the Firefox View that was added lacks features. I would love to see a way to move those tabs to other windows from there. A proper tab management. We can't move tabs to another existing window for some reason so it has to be done manually. This is a feature that can be developed in an hour.  It's a very simple one. Those features have existed in Chromium for years and years now. It really doesn't seem complicated to add split screen and move tab. Tab groups (with rename) is a bit more work.

Sideview cannot be used. It's a very buggy extension and should either be fixed or removed. When it's active, without even being used but just active, lots of websites load in mobile mode in main view or force us to download a mobile app (on our desktop), thus they cannot be used. Try it with temu.com and you'll see. Asana.com as well.

Hi, thank you so much for continuing to work on these features. Currently, all extensions that try to do Split View are breaking sites in one way or another, so removing this add-on is better.
The vertical tabs are lovely; use them daily.
It would also be wonderful to have the ability to screen share a single tab.
(if you have extra Nightly versions, I would love to see them too, but take your time)

+1 on this.  As far as I’m concerned, I think only Firefox and Chrome are the only major browsers not having this.

Edge has it

Opera has it

Vivaldi has it

Brave(nightly) has it.
