When searching for a bookmark in Manage Bookmarks, Firefox doesn't show the folder containing the bookmark(s) that were found. It would be helpful if Firefox showed the folder where the existing bookmarks are found.
P.S: @noel_envoide After trying it out, I now see that your screenshot was from the BMS+2 context menu, not FF's.
Unfortunately, I don't find BMS+2 very helpful, since it only replaces the FF Bookmarks Pane and not the "Manage Bookmarks" window. I depend on the latter to order the search results by URL, which makes it easier to find duplicate or overlapping bookmarks.
Yes *please* include folders in bookmark searches *and* include a folder location column in bookmark search results. I have multiple duplicate folders all over the place in FireFox and can't find or consolidate them because it i too much of a time consuming pain in the neck to page through thousands of folders and bookmarks.
Especially about returning the location of the bookmark. If my bookmarks were a mess, without the search also returning the folders where they were, the only way to access them would be via the search, because I wouldn't know where to find them.
Great idea. I think this would be made even better if search by folder functionality were added to the "Bookmark this page" function. It would really help to keep things organized for those of us with many bookmarks.
Search results in the bookmarks library page and in the sidebar should also show bookmark folders
As of now, searching for phrases in those pages just shows bookmarks. While I can right click a bookmark and click "Show in folder" to instantly navigate to the folder containing said bookmark, I would like the ability to see folders in the search results along with bookmarks that contain whatever phrases you search for.
managing bookmarks: search result: include show parent folder of a bookmark
... (maybe I just cant figure out how to do it, but) ... when searching for a bookmark by *name*, if it is found, Firefox will not show me where the bookmark actually is (assuming I have placed it in a somewhat deeper custom folder hierarchy) ... is there a (simple) fix, like displaying an (optional additional) column for the next higher parent directory of the bookmark ? pls, see screenshot
I've been using Firefox for years. My bookmarks, when saved via HTML, is over 3.5MB. Presently the "Manage Bookmark" window, when displaying a highlighted URL shows the labels, Name, URL, Tags, Keyword. I believe it should also show the taxonomy the URL within a users bookmark menu structure. Ie. ">Bookmarks Menu . House Stuff . sheds". Presently I export to Json, and put it in a viewer to find things. Not helpful at all and I find myself creating redundant folders in different places. A sort of reverse lookup is needed. And while you are at it, make the "Bookmark Current Tab" popup larger, presently it's so tiny, and the lookback depth is too small.
As someone who over-organizes their bookmarks, I'd love the ability to search for a particular folder in the Bookmark this Page dialog from the menu bar (especially if it had autocomplete) in Firefox. Scrolling through and expanding folders can be tedious and it seems like a fairly small quality of life improvement.
The FIREFOX MANAGE BOOKMARKS does not show the FOLDER the bookmark is in, similar to either the "BOOKMARK CURRENT TAB" --OR-- "EDIT BOOKMARK" THIS WOULD MAKE THE "SEARCH" FUNCTION MORE USEFUL. NOW WHEN YOU SEARCH, IT SHOWS MORE BOOKMARKS THAN MAY BE IN THE FOLDER YOU SELECTED, BUT IT DOES NOT SHOW WHICH FOLDER THE BOOKMARK IS CURRENTLY IN, OR HOW TO MOVE IT TO THE CORRECT FOLDER.
So my thought would be to be able to search for bookmarks that are in folders more of like of if there is more then one category like breakfast would be the main category then from there would be anything related to breakfast would be smoothies, breakfast casserole, brunch recipes and so on. So with that said in stead of trying to search for casserole all may or may not show up why not just search the spfic folder with the relevant category you are looking for. Thank you. Ps. In my work I have this struggle because I have to bookmark various stuff and have multiple categories. Thank you.
Sometimes you know youยดve made a bookmark and when using the search option youยดll find it. But Mozilla doesnยดt give the information where it is located. We see the name, Date and url in the library, but not the folder where it is stored.
