Mozilla needs to return lockwise or make a new better password manager outside of firefox. If you ask me i find a password manger outside a browser safer then inside a browser because it's more secured. If someone disagree with me i like to know why.  I don't know why mozilla stopped lockwise because in my eyes it was a great password manager.

With the recent stories about Mozilla's funding, I don't think it would be a bad idea to bring this kind of service back to life.

I think a lot of us realise that this will have a cost in terms of maintaining the code (even if it's open source, you still have to do the work of keeping the PR's and issues up to date) but there are a few points :

  • The service could have a limited free version and a paid version (let's imagine 2, 3, 4 euros/dollars) that would unlock more features.
  • With Mozilla's services, why not create a joint subscription at a price that is, of course, reasonable for Mozilla (so that it doesn't lose money)?

We could imagine resuming the archived project (https://github.com/mozilla-lockwise) or redesigning it in rust (which would also consume much less energy on the server side).

I hope to see the legendary Lockwise again. It's much better than any enterprise password manager available for FF users, and I'm still using it.
