Can I be honest for a moment? I just couldn’t stand it this time—the way they’ve rounded out the UI to mimic Apple’s aesthetic, the blurred boundaries between tabs and the address bar, and the addition of all these useless features like VPN, and so on. All the recently added features and updates are absolutely terrible and feel like garbage. I don’t even know who the Mozilla developers are doing this for. But that’s not what I want to talk about here. What I want to say is that the fact the Microsoft Store version of Mozilla Firefox is a completely separate app from the one installed from the x32-64 native version’s website is absolutely terrible. Because of this, countless users around the world have tried to reinstall the app only to experience serious conflicts due to differences in profiles and settings. And while I fully understand why users are discussing design-related issues, I don’t understand why they aren’t addressing this point. I don’t trust MSIX packages, and I don’t trust installing directly from the Microsoft Store either. Microsoft still hasn’t resolved the “data collection” issues that you folks at Mozilla have been raising such a fuss about. The idea of installing a browser from an app store provided by a company like that really turns me off. Here’s my suggestion:
1. Remove Firefox from the Microsoft Store and keep only the native version that can be installed from the website or via WinGet.
2. If option 1 is absolutely impossible, ensure that the Firefox version in the Microsoft Store is installed as Mozilla’s native version, not within the MSIX sandbox environment.
