Hello everyone,

I am discussing the availability of translation beta models. While it's great to see that some models are already available, some language pairs are unavailable, and the available translation pairs are one-sided sometimes.

I've heard rumors about beta versions of models designed for offline translation that have yet to be released. These beta models could fill many gaps and enhance Firefox's translation capabilities significantly. Making them available could be a game-changer for many who rely on offline translation tools.

It would be wonderful if these beta versions could be rolled out, even in a limited capacity, to allow for community feedback and further refinement. What do you all think?

@tilwitiwe are releasing them in Firefox Nightly, usually a few days after we have finished training them.

I'm curious to know if you have any ideas on how we could effectively collect feedback about the models!

@marcoHello Marco! I wouldn't mind an approach similar to Common Voice, namely the part of it where the audio is tested, only now for translation texts. Specifically, I am more interested in language pairs with Ukrainian but I believe this approach can be expanded on more language pairs.
