In Chrome I have all sites muted by default, because I "blocked" the permission for all sites. I only allow sound on sites that I want, like Youtube and such. I tried extensions in Firefox that block sound on all tabs. But somehow they are unreliable.

Allow or block media autoplay in Firefox
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/block-autoplay

1 - Go to configuration editor for Firefox https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/about-config-editor-firefox
2 - Enter a search term autoplay

media.autoplay.default 1 this correspond to the situation Block Audio.
media.autoplay.default 0 this correspond to the situation Allow Audio and Video.
media.autoplay.default 5 this correspond to the situation Block Audio and Video.

About, media.autoplay.blocking-policy, maybe you can test 2

Agentvirtuel , that does not block audio in videos. In Chrome, no sound is audible until you allow it.

Hello

A working environment (user) in a given situation does not correspond to a working environment (other user) in a given situation, please understand that it is difficult to give an opinion.

Without an example, is difficult to give an opinion.

Another example https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1517807 media.autoplay.blocking_policy, it works.
