With the version Firefox 109 release, you added this new button without the option to change its position or move into the overflow area. Please let use move it. I can remove/hide almost every other UI element in the browser, why not this?

This issue was frustrating - after the 109 update.

Firstly, I need to control the number of icons on the taskbar - that's still there.

Secondly, half of my extensions don't need icons on display, and the other half are useful - so I put them in the overflow menu.

I can access extensions any time via Tools menu, via Hamburger menu, and via Ctrl_Shift_A.

I understand that people are hopeless and can't discover things - so when I right click the new icon, I just wanted to find an option to remove it...

It took me fully 20 minutes to discover that I need to dig in about:config and start searching.

I totally agree! This mania for taking away customization possibilities instead of adding them has become very annoying. I want to be able to remove this button, which serves absolutely no purpose and just clutters the toolbar unnecessarily.

Coding,

The art of coding is knowing what is the pathway that is going to please the most users.
Coding an unmovable icon in the user modifiable area is a violation of that art.
Coding for the lowest denominator out there will always produce mediocre software that power users, opinion leaders,  stay away from. Software wise, there is no future to that kind of business model.

Or maybe you guys just pushed some unfinished work on all of us. How to annihilate the installed base.
It made me switch off Auto Update on the spot.

Thank You.

Fanboy jscher2000, don't bother replying to this post, you have no power to change the bloatware direction Mozilla has embarked upon.

So annoying...

There is no good reason that the extension button cannot be removed from the toolbar.  The user should be able to decide what they want displayed.  This is a feature no one asked for.

Extensions is one of the least accessed features. I NEVER look at mine.  There isn't enough space for things I use.

The ugly button is utterly unnecessary. The whole feature should be removed if that immovable button is the key element.

Please allow removal of this button. If I'm using extensions, I know how to manage them, thank you very much.

Recent history has shown that mandating something usually doesn't go over very well. 😷😷😷

The new extensions toolbar button solves no problems, adds visual clutter, and consumes screen real estate. Let us hide/move/remove it.

Voted. Please revert this change, Mozilla. How does it make any sense? Overflow menu was perfect for all things we want hidden but easy to access (addons, tools).

I find it hard to believe that the same team that has beautifully redesigned Firefox over that last few years has come up with this Very Bad idea. Hugs to the people on the team that thought this was super dumb; May you all be promoted, at least for Firefox users' sanity.

I was confused why my overflow menu that I had set up to contain the extensions that I actively need to interact with was empty and they were now in an unmovable and customization menu right next to it lol. Thankful this can be resolved with the about:config switch but it's certainly a disruptive change and inconsistent with the customizable design language to be expected.
