Navigating through a long table of contents in a PDF can be challenging, especially when there are numerous chapters and subchapters that are all expanded. It would greatly improve the user experience if there were a "Collapse All" button that allows users to close all sections with a single click. This would make it easier to navigate by letting users manually expand only the chapters they need, providing a cleaner and more manageable overview.

Did you find an addon/extension that could add this feature?

No, that is why I suggested this feature to the devellopers

I don't know if this is new, but you can just double click the "Show Document Outline" (where you see the outline in the first place) to close or expand everything.

@VasGamezThank you so much, I can't believe I couldn't find this before. Did you just stumble across that or did you see it mentioned somewhere? If you did just stumble across it, what brought you to this article?

I found this thread last year and @VasGamez 's comment saved me from a lot of frustration.

With the latest useless "update" (148.0) they managed to remove this feature.

It is indeed possible to expand/collapse the document outline by double clicking.

While we were working on the new design of the sidebar for the feature to reorganize/split/merge PDFs, it was temporarily disabled, but it is back now.
