In Firefox Android, I often have multiple tabs open. When I scroll up and down to navigate through the tabs, I sometimes accidentally close a tab. Probably because I was swiping diagonally up. I have a few seconds to click the undo button that pops up.

I've never intentionally used this gesture since I click the x button to close a tab.

Please add an option to disable the side swipe gesture.

@Shug Wrong thread for that, buddy. Everyone here wants to DISABLE that "feature".

@AxeSwipeToCloseThis thread was a merged thread of "disablers" and "turn that volume down man"

At the least they ended up reverting it from "stupendous hyper close" back to "mostly sticky pain to close"

But if they added the two requests together into a selectable range choice then all could be happy.

0="disabled" and have fun hitting the x every time and not opening the tab

10="stupendous hyper close" just don't breathe or blink when trying to scroll

Adding in my vote for bringing back easy-to-close tabs.

With the previous versions, I was able to close a tab comfortably with my thumb while holding the phone in one hand but in v.137 I need to take the phone in two hands and use a finger to be able to make a gesture long enough.

The clear solution to make everyone happy would be to allow the user to configure the sensitivity needed to close a tab (with the maximum being "this feature is disabled"). Seeing how this can apparently be switched from version to version, exposing the setting to the user via about:config cannot be that hard, can it?

  • Now it's TOO difficult to close by swiping. The gesture is basically unusable with how far you have to swipe the tab for it to close. I can barely do it even when done intentionally.

Sorry @Curi0usCat but according to the suuuper smart people like @Jon its apparently suuuper impossible to implement any of those hoooooribble and suuper not-obvious solutions. Its impossible to implement one if those newfangled things called a toggle button. Its impossible for them to listen to the community or even properly respond. They're too busy making very important very meaningful changes and just have no idea how they would implement something sooooooo challenging and complicated as even a toggle. Its impossible for a single, especially a user like you, or anyone else in this thread to even come up with any suggestions that are possible. Oh wait, no all of that is totally possible its just that would be a good feature to add and would make everyone happy, cant have that in todays software.

Who needs useful simple fixes when instead, the people typing away making the changes can follow along with rest of industry and change things to make them slowly worse for the user with no communication on why and treat us like it just haaaaas to be developed that way and theres nooooooothing any of them can do about it.

Registered here to beg for a revert to the old behavior.

With the current (143) sensitivity is basically impossible for me to close the tabs with a swipe.

I need to change holding hand and use the index finger to be able to swipe! It's so cumbersome it's basically impossible, and the "half swipe" also is irritating.
