Status: New idea

In a world where every single usable software UI copies apple and goes the way of bubbly cartoon circles, soft corners, etc, you had the chance to be different. It was a primary reason I use this browser. The UI now looks awful. I'm trying to work and learn online, not pretend I'm in some futuristic cartoon version of a factory control room. Please provide a setting to use the old UI.

Why must we lose time to find a stupid flag to turn that vomit-inducing feature off? This is horrible, awful stuff. Hope you'll get cancer as much as we did. Sincerely yours

They should give as the option to change it!

Thank you @err2reroor  that solved the problem Mozilla made why can't that be just in the settings? 😅

I really quite liked the purple new tab screen and header for private browsing windows. But now it's nearly black, making it not only much harder to see anything, but overall far worse to look at. Even worse, it doesn't change from such hardly at all regardless of theme, preventing me from correcting it.

So yeah, it's awful, and I want the previous UI version back ASAP.

@SquibbleZombie as far as I understand, version 156 is the first big release with Nova updates. The team is monitoring feedback and will continue refining the experience in the upcoming versions.

i personally CANT STAND that every few days theres a forced update (i get it, security blah blah blah) but changing all my settings without asking really pisses me off. every **bleep** time theres an update I have to undo a bunch of crap, from the AI features to the sidebar and now this horrible nova theme I didn't ask for

Oh thank goodness it wasn't just me. When I saw the little "bubble" after updating I literally said "ew", out loud. I scoured the settings for a way to change it, but there is none.
I liked the old style. It was clearer, and more spacious. I hate this new one. But most of all I hate they went the way of "time to overhaul the UI for no discernible reason and give people no options about it!" Again.
I left Firefox a long time ago when they made a UI overhaul (making it a chrome-clone) that annoyed me too much. I found my way back, and have been content for a while, even despite their blunders wanting to jump on the AI-in-everything bandwagon before reconsidering. Now here we are *again*. Am I going to have to look into Firefox forks again?

@err2reroor you are a lifesaver.

@kelimuttu This should be in the settings page.

I guesse I was not the only one. I really don't like how the New Tab page dose not take up all of my screen anymore. Also I feel like the UI got rounder. I'm using the Linux version so I don't know how diffrent it is.

This is terrible forum software!, just awful, anyway, when the below stops working, (and it will):

URL bar -> about:config -> ENTER -> accept warning -> search nova ->
double-click line "browser.nova.enabled" to change to "false"

Do the below config change instead:

about:config ==>  toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets ==> true

Then create a userChrome.css file in this location below:

(create the chrome folder if it doesn't exist)
\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxxxxxxx\chrome\userChrome.css

Insert below into userChrome.css, voilá excessively rounded corners gone! but not totally square either.

/* Nova Rounding Adjustments */
:root {
--border-radius-xsmall: 1px !important; /* Nova Default: 4px, Proton Default: 2px */
--border-radius-small: 2px !important; /* Nova Default: 8px, Proton Default: 4px */
--border-radius-medium: 3px !important; /* Nova Default: 12px, Proton Default: 8px */
--border-radius-large: 4px !important; /* Proton Default: 16px, [Undefined in Nova] */
--border-radius-xlarge: 6px !important; /* Nova Default: 24px, [Undefined in Proton] */
}

Then with the below skin, you will feel relieved as can be seen below.

TLDR: about:config -> browser.nova.enabled = false
This Nova theme is the worse FF "improvement" ever.
I have never complained about anything, tried to digest and managed to do it with every changes.
But this one is a fatal mistake.
I use a lot of tabs. They go to an icon normally. Now they are in a circle. The containers plugin has a colour mark above each tab, which has shrunk to invisible tiny now. I have color deficiencies, I can't see them now. The containers tab also adds the container name + icon in the input bar, which nova has changed to be transparent with colors on the edges only. It's a disaster to be fair.
So I disabled it

Absolutely not. Don't even try. The more reworked elements I went through, the more pain I was experiencing. Was about to go look into rollback + update lock, but decided to first scroll through feedback section for the first time and maybe submit a lovely note. Fortunately, discovered the "nova" flag. Huge thanks to those mentioned it. If this becomes default I'm ditching ff.

Tabs group icon is hideous btw who thought any of these changes is a good idea. Insane!
