The current Firefox homepage/new tab page is quite minimal:

I think there's an opportunity to make it look better and have functionality like the other browsers do

  • Include stats about blocked ads/trackers etc - Since FF is privacy focused, why not display info from about:protections front and center instead of hiding it!
  •  Wallpaper (optional please!). Maybe users could set their own or FF could randomly show some
  • Calendar or other widgets. Brave shows a clock (which is kinda redundant)
  • Weather (if user allows location access)
  • Some Firefox feeds/ticker. You could have "Did you know"s or good news stories about what Mozilla is doing/how they're helping the world. Could also advertise Mozilla VPN or T-shirts! Kodi (used to be XBMC) has one of these tickers.

Brave's new tab page below incl number of trackers/ads blocked, bandwidth and time saved:

Kodi RSS/news ticker:

Firefox's about:protections sadly not being shown off!

Some more ideas:

๐Ÿ‘‰  Allow custom wallpapers
๐Ÿ‘‰  Change wallpaper each (number) (seconds, minutes, hours)/at every new tab opened, plus selection of desired wallpapers to set. Probably a dropdown menu for both values is recommended
๐Ÿ‘‰  โœ… No containers behind Home shortcuts (to remove the square behind the shortcut itself)
๐Ÿ‘‰  For incognito mode tabs,
Load the default Home page:
- at first incognito mode execution
- always
With default incognito mode tab I mean the default info tab that's loaded when you once run the incognito mode. That window don't show Home page shortcuts so this option is meant to give users the choice between showing that default page any time or just load the usual Home page that they see when they open a new tab in the normal browsing mode.

Hello, Mozillas!

Can You, please, provide a Mozilla Firefox user an opportunity to configure the number of the saved or visited sites of the Firefox start page? I'd like to have more then 4 rows and more then 8 columns of the saved or visited sites.
Is it possible to do?

@Tianuchka hey, there's a separate idea thread for that specific request here:

Firefox Home Screen Shortcuts - more rows please!

Check it out, vote, and add your feedback ๐Ÿ™Œ

Add a clock and stats to New Tab page

One of the best things about Braveโ€™s New Tab Page is that it includes a simple clock and some useful stats (trackers blocked, bandwidth saved, time saved, etc.).

Firefox's New Tab Page is functional, but it feels outdated compared to what other browsers offer. Right now, if I want a clock or extra info on the New Tab Page, I have to use extensions or a custom HTML file, which is unnecessary when it could just be a built-in feature.

Hereโ€™s what Iโ€™d love to see in a future update:
โœ… A built-in clock (just a simple, clean time displayโ€”nothing fancy)
โœ… Stats for privacy features (e.g., trackers/scripts blocked, bandwidth saved, total time saved by blocking ads)
โœ… More control over New Tab customisation (e.g., rearrange or resize shortcut tiles)

This would make the Firefox New Tab Page both more useful and more visually appealing, without adding bloat or unnecessary distractions.

Firefox is one of the best browsers out there, but the New Tab Page needs a refresh to bring it up to modern standards. Please consider adding this!

Good ideas! I'd love to see privacy stats on the homepage, or at least the option to add something like that.
