never update login details

hi folks,

i have saved login details for many sites, but for some i choose only to save the username, NOT the password. this may be because it is an on-screen keyboard input, or because i prefer to not store it at all.

each time i login to these sites, they ask me if i want to update the login details. annoying.

i propose a "never update for this site" button.

@cucaracha21  hello and welcome! I can see some value in this idea, even though it's probably not for everyone. Can you help me to understand how you can save a login without password? If I remember correctly password is required to save/create/edit a login.

@Serg Hmmm. Good point. I was just fiddling around with it, and you are right - you can neither save nor update if the password field is empty.

it is only sites with on-screen keyboard input that it always ask to update. not sure why. it may not even by all such sites. 

I suppose it is such a rare occurrence it not worth adding the option... unless other people think there is some use?

@cucaracha21  If you can let us know URL of such site we would be happy to investigate. Sometimes web site can manipulate page internally to make it look like it has login information. We are working to prevent false positives and this could be just one more example we can validate.

I simply add a password, consisting of just one char - this is the sure sign, it is no password at all.
I need this e.g. for my company account. Our internal rules forbid, to save the password on nearly all places (except internal tools)

So I need a way to tell firefox "Never eve save  or update this".
When I recently did a review, I found even my current password saved several times - BAD !

I have been using this App for 10 years without a password. Now for some reason it wants one. I have no idea what password to use as none of my current ones work. How do I reset it?

I have seen a "Never ask to update password on this site" option on some browser in the past. I thought it was Firefox, years ago, but maybe I'm misremembering. It was an additional button on the "Update password?" popup. I'd like to have this added to Firefox. There's a website I often use that requires a third passphrase, in addition the username and main password. Every time I log in, Firefox is confused and asks to remember that passphrase as the main password, which I don't want to do - I want the browser to remember the main password and just ignore the third field. I have to X out or click away the popup every time, which is annoying.

The (almost ?) exclusive use case for me is, the sites I don#t WANT to have (correct) password saved. (banking and others)
My current workaround - it's more a Würgaround for German users - is to save a single letter password - which I then need to kick out before typing the new one.
But still it is nice to have the mail saved, especially if it is one of many, many Mozilla relay or spamgourmet...
