I'm personally a heavy tab user but have always wondered why there is almost no support for tab grouping or customization in the native tab bar in Firefox.

I think making it able to group like Google Chrome does for example or at least giving more access for extensions and add-ons would significantly improve the UI in that regard.

Thanks for that information @YPAP2205, I'm trying it here and looks great. However, I do agree with all of @doom-o-matic suggestions, mainly the rearranging, just found out I cannot drag and drop the groups. Hopefully it gets improved as it goes

Need to make a feature: so that there is a setting that places a pinned tab in a group. For example, a freely movable group with a pinned tab (YouTube (pinned) tabs from YouTube, but not pinned)

This will be convenient if the user uses pinned tabs as bookmarks and when he opens a child tab, then in addition to automatic grouping, he will have a group with pinned tabs

I tried the new beta. However will there only be tab grouping like in chrome?

For example Safari implements this feature with a drop down menu, which i prefere more on a single screen setup like a laptop. It allows me to not have 40 Tabs in a single Tab bar.

Loving the feature is being developed and the bugzilla info is great.

Support boom's suggestions - moving groups around, and the 'move to a new window' could be improved i feel by changing to 'move tab group' then a submenu for new window or list of existing windows. Currently moving a group between existing windows requires saving the group and then loading it from the window you want.

Containers and groups should automatically create new tabs in the same group/container as the current tab when hitting CTRL+T.

I previously made this post about ideas for tab groups.

And now that tab groups are actively being worked on I'd like to share some of the ideas again because I believe they will make the tab groups experience a lot better.

-Saving Tab groups-
I would like to see a way to permanently store tab groups outside of having a group in saved in list all tabs. (which gets removed from the saved list when you open the tab group again)
I think that the best way to store a tab group would be making a bookmarks folder with all the tabs inside of it.
There could be a special folder inside the bookmarks sidebar where saved tab groups would go as folders with web pages inside of them.
This also needs the feature where you can create a tab group from a bookmarks folder, as I think this feature would also be very useful where you can open bookmark folders as a tabgroup for more productivity. The open all bookmarks function could open all of the bookmarks in the folder inside a tab group for example.

-History-
When you look at your browsing history currently there is no way to see if a tab was part of a tab group and there is no way to re-open closed tab groups in their entirety.
I would like to see this be possible. Where in the history you can re-open entire closed tab groups and see if a tab was part of a tab group by a small color on the side for example.
A special history mode that focuses on tab groups would also be an interesting option. Where you see closed tabs ranked by group.

I hope these ideas are used in one way or another because I think they would improve the experience of managing tabs that you want to visit later a lot easier.

Thank you @W0lf for your ideas and suggestions. While I don't directly work on Firefox myself, I can assure you these threads are monitored by the team and community.

It may be worth submitting your Saving Tab Groups and Tab Group History feature suggestions as separate ideas so that they can be discussed further. Thanks again for your support!
