Please remove the QR code scanner from the upper right corner of the URL bar. It is very easy to misclick because it is placed at the same location where the commonly used buttons are.

The QR code scanner is in these 2 locations:

1. Right-most button

2. Second button to the right

However, these 2 locations are also where the commonly used Tab and Menu buttons are. If you are used to clicking either buttons, chances are you have clicked the QR code scanner button by mistake.

Reasons why we should remove the QR scanner button:

1. I rarely scan QR codes. Honestly, I think I've scanned QR codes once every quarter. That doesn't warrant it to be so accessible.

2. It is prone to misclick because it uses the same location as the Tab and Menu buttons

3. There are other apps that scan QR codes. There are dedicated QR code scanner apps or it is included in the phone's camera app. It doesn't have to be done in Firefox.

Suggestion: Move the QR code scanner to the 3 dot menu where we can use it on demand.

Couldn't agree more. This feature is horrible! I click it by accident all of the time. It needs to go away asap!

Please Mozilla get rid of this feature! It's so bad.

Also whenever I try to type in the search bar, in the past it would delete whatever was there and I could just type brand new. Now it doesn't do that and it just continues to type on top of what's already in the search bar. Which forces me to have to click X to delete everything. It would be one thing if the app was originally like that in the first place forcing me to click X to delete before typing. But I've been doing this for years and gotten accustomed to this method and now I have to learn something different? It doesn't make sense why do you guys always change things when people are used to something a certain way. It doesn't benefit anyone.

How come this request is ignored and another thread from 2020 was closed and ignored... I dont want QR code reader anywhere on my phone nevermind on browser... I disabled camera permission on firefox so why does QR code reader still have access to my camera?

Firefox MobileSo easy to trigger by mistake. Takes up valuable mobile space for fat fingers. Never used. Has been an issue for a number of years. Adding a settings toggle to remove it would be a simple solution.

This reason for this issue seems obvious.  It's an intentional privacy flaw.  There's no reason to make it a forced feature, much less one that bypasses security settings.  That's the only reason a setting to configure or disable this feature has been ignored and denied for 5 years.

Many of us would NEVER scan a QR code from a security configured device, and do not have one even installed.  Our settings deny camera and microphone assess to most if not all apps - certainly from browsers.  Firefox stopped being a privacy protecting browser long ago, this is just further evidence.  A forced feature which somehow bypasses the camera permission and despite many requests and complaints it continues like this for over half a decade?  You do the math.
