Having this feature on mobile would be huge. I assume we're talking regular tab groups like on desktop or Chrome Mobile, not the Collections feature. It's a big part of how I use a browser, and it's the only reason I've hesitated to switch my mobile browser from Chrome for so long. If this was added, I'd abandon Chrome in a heartbeat and never look back.
Adding a practical reference point that might help shape this idea more clearly.
Firefox already provides a solid base for tab browsing, but one area where there is still room for improvement is structured tab organization on mobile, especially when handling many open tabs.
A useful example worth looking at is the Opera Android browser. It has a very effective implementation of tab management that could serve as inspiration, especially its approach to:
Clear separation of tab clusters instead of a flat list of tabs
Optional grouping logic that reduces clutter without user effort
Better visibility and navigation when many tabs are open
It may be helpful for the team to actually try the Opera Android app at least once to see how these interactions feel in practice, especially how quickly users can switch between grouped contexts without losing track of tabs.
The key value there is not any single feature, but the overall flow: tabs are organized in a way that reduces cognitive load while still keeping user control available.
If Firefox could explore a similar direction—either through native implementation or inspired design patterns—it would significantly improve usability for users who keep multiple tabs open on mobile.
