Make it possible to disable notifications about already read emails

During the day, I usually read my email on my phone, but when I come home to my Windows PC, I then get annoying notifications for all of those emails – sometimes for several minutes – even though they're marked as already read. Is there any way to make Thunderbird only create notifications for emails that I haven't yet read?
