Interval for checking new messages

Setting "Check for new messages every" has fixed unit of minutes, and the text box does not accept fractional values.  I want checking interval to be less than 1 minute, thus I am forced to use a different email client.  Two solutions are implicit in first sentence.

@at, Thanks for the idea.

I can pretty much guarantee this change will not happen - not needed by enough users, and in addition a performance hit to servers and to user's computer.

However, imap can already do this for you if your  provider's mail server supports "Allow immediate server notification..."
