It would be good to implement something like this, similar to Microsoft Edge. This would help to decrease the amount of time it takes for Firefox to start up.

For me Firefox opens almost instantly, I have no problems

Foxfire use to open up very quickly. Now I have to wait 2 min. and 29 seconds for it to open up. Please make it faster. TY

@bear15 sorry to hear it's taking so long to open up — it should happen right away. Here are some potential fixes from our Mozilla Support site: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-takes-long-time-start-up

Faster startup to compete with Google Chrome

Hi, I just wanted to take a moment to write to you and say that I love firefox but i'm a bit frustrated that it starts slow sometimes. Many times it starts and automatically runs the installer because it needs updates. It seems like it does this almost every time I open it when its not been used that day or very recently.

I sometimes revert to Chrome because it is the fastest startup of any browser I use. It has its issues, like getting stuck when its got too many windows open but for the quick search or some every day task, it feels so much nicer just because it opens immediately. I suppose the more features you put in, the longer it will take to start up.

Maybe you could tell me if there is some way to get Firefox to start up as fast as Chrome, and perhaps load its updates and features when its idle or something. I think that feature is easier to select on a phone, but i'm speaking of my desktop computer use.

Thank you

Firefox USED TO BE one of the fastest loading browsers on the web but sadly, it is now one of the slowest... I actually minimize it after starting it up and then do the same with Microsoft Edge ( which also has went to the slow side of loading too )... I use both browsers since many sites just work better on one of the other ( I have a dual monitor system on what was a decent laptop a few years ago.. maxed out on memory and soon to replace the HDD with a SSD after the new year sales start up( may even replace the laptop with a newer model that can address over 16 GB of ram.... seen a few showing 32 gb of ram for sale lately, they just need to up the SSD to a 1TB or more and this fish might bite<G> )

The point is, somehow Chrome starts up instantly. It's the fastest browser I use on a desktop. I don't know that its the best but it seems to be the fastest on initial startup. Since you start it up every day at least, this is important to not be slow.

Firefox seems to be often reloading the installer when i just want to open the browser. Seems like it shouldn't do that.

This is really strange, I just went to test the firefox browser a minute ago and this time it started up immediately just like google, in a nanosecond. It seems capable of doing that but maybe I just use it so infrequently on this computer that when i got to open it after some time it always has to update itself.

I would LOVE the 5 minutes it takes Firefox to be fixed! I've tried ALL the suggestions, nothing works. Have to use Edge browser until Firefox finally decides to start working. No other browser has this problem, only Firefox. PLEASE fix it! The only reason I use Firefox at all is that it has features the rest don't have. And I'm far from alone in having this slow start-up with Firefox, you know that!

Hi, Firefox is very slow during application startup since few months (Mac os, tested on serveral Macs). It is really boring !

Here is the idea I would submit : come back to a Firefox with fast startup...

Cheers...

I noticed something really disturbing.

I use duckduckgo.com as my home page, which is not heavy.

With duckduckgo, FF takes 5-7 seconds to start, instead by setting Firefox home as the default page it takes less than a second. If I manually go to duckduckgo.com it takes less than a second.

Given that the startup and manual browsing time is a scant 2 seconds, why does setting the home on DDG take that long?

Given that DDG is a static page, might it help to cache the page (which I don't know how to do) and check if the cache needs to be refreshed after viewing the page?

Please add startup enhancements to Firefox

Firefox's cold start is too slow, please add a setting to allow it to start automatically on boot and run in the background, just like Microsoft Edge browser

Please add an optional small window at startup for we can see the Firefox checks steps at startup to see what's going on !

Too many people experiencing slow start !!!
