Firefox managed to bring HDR to Macs in 100.0 version. Now it's time for Windows!

It'd be awesome to watch and work on HDR images and videos using Firefox in 2022. Windows is the most popular OS, why not bring HDR here too?
More monitors and devices running on Windows support HDR, so there is an increase in demand of HDR support in Firefox.

The only option for Windows users is either to switch to another browser or to download and use a dedicated app from Microsoft Store.

Just keeping this rolling... We're about to enter 2025, more than two and a half years after this was first posted, and this feature was overdue back then by at least a couple years... I've now made the decision to move off of Windows to linux... and if it is taking this long to get a feature that has been standard for years in other browsers on the single most prolific desktop OS on the planet, I have to wonder how long it's going to be before it comes to linux... maybe I should just accept the privacy issues with chrome (not like mozilla is much better anyways)

Oh yeah, expecting them to do anything over the Christmas break. If you have an nvidia card, enable sdr to hdr in the graphics config panel. You can also enable super resolution which basically takes the hdr rendered sdr content and changes it to hdr for your monitor and looks decent.

Nearly 3 years later and still no HDR for Firefox Windows users. I've sadly switched to Edge (I know it's simply Chrome with it's own version of lipstick) and lament the incredibly poor lack of resources given to make HDR a reality for Windows users. Digging into the challenges (excuses?) for not being able to properly implement HDR now in 2025 are simply embarrassing. Yes Windows is more complicated than MacOS where FF has implemented HDR properly but in the past 3 years Mozilla could have at least made progress with HDR to enable it as an experimental feature. That would knock down some of the hardware & backward compatibility challenges I've read in other forums. I use FF on my Mac, my mobile device but on my gaming PC I'm stuck staring at the orange fox icon and using browsers I'd rather not....
