I would like to generate a secure password from the about:logins page.

On some websites, the browser does not recognize the password field and therefore does not suggest a strong password. I also want to generate passwords for desktop apps, other devices etc.

Currently I have to navigate to a random website, pretend to create a new account, then copy the generated password.

Instead I would like to open the passwords manager and generate a new password from there.

There is already a button to create a new login in the passwords manager. I think that would be a perfect place to add this functionality.

This sounds like a good idea.   I was having an issue with password generator as well. The website i was using would not let me change passwords  if i had that feature enabled .

On that note i noticed that passwords generated with that feature are only alpha numeric. Some sites ask you to include special characters as well.  ( which you can do after genereating a password with FF ).

My question is > Why not  include special characters in that generator from the start ?

@Oyaji I think that’s a separate idea - add an option to choose from generating passwords of random dictionaries words, alpha numeric, or alpha numeric + symbols.

I think being able to generate a new password inside about:logins would help you become less hackable across several other websites or services.

I would want to add this to your idea aswell @CubeOfCheese. Maybe make the ability to create a "Fake" user inside Mozilla Firefox aimed for a 3rd-party (Software/App) So you can return to your Firefox Account (about:logins) In case you would need it.

@GnenoDEVActually you can do this already! And I do it all the time. I sometimes store passwords for apps on my phone in firefox's password manager. You just click the Create New Login button at the bottom of the password manager.
