Flexibility with interface configuration

Some websites consume an enormous amount of real-estate and make the desired content very restricted, especially for vision impaired, who often need to zoom the text and/or the entire screen.  Being able to modify the browser interface to make the desired area bigger and the rest take up less space, would be great.  Perhaps use the same concept as in other apps that let you drag a row or columns height/width to whatever is necessary (i.e., spreadsheets).
