Firefox Sync: Syncing Shortcuts

It would be nice if Firefox synced shortcuts so users don't need to readd them each time they sync on a new computer.

i waiting this feature since 2019/2020, and comeback again with firefox to see sync functionality, very dissapointed not yet to be implement, 😥

Here is a work around for those that are somewhat tech-savvy.

1. Manual Synchronization:

Configure shortcuts on one device: Set up your desired homepage shortcuts on one device.

Access "about:config":

Type about:config in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. Accept the warning.

Find "browser.newtabpage.pinned":

Search for the preference named browser.newtabpage.pinned.

Copy the preference value: Right-click on the preference and select "Copy".

Paste into a text file or an email, send this to your other computer and select and copy, then:

Paste on other devices: On your other devices, open about:config, search for browser.newtabpage.pinned, right-click, and choose "Paste".

Restart Firefox: Close and reopen Firefox on the other devices for the changes to take effect.

I came here to make the same petition...

At this point I've got to say that Firefox Shortcuts are amazing and I love them... But I have a computer at home and another in my office and since I took so much time to have all my shortcuts the way I want in the order I want and with the logo I want... It really bothers me to having to do the same again on my office's computer (which is in sync with Firefox Sync)...

Could we at least create a bug to ask like, this isn't working in Firefox Sync?

Sync shortcuts please!

I love shortcuts and use them everyday for websites ranging from APS to BBC Future that produce new content everyday. Bookmarks feel too much work and I use them very rarely. The problem is when I sync Firefox Desktop to Firefox Android, the shortcuts are not synced. This is really frustrating because I have spent a lot of time curating the shortcuts on Firefox Dekstop and I cannot access them on Android.

I notice that this issue has been raised before.

Also, there was a post about increasing shortcut rows from 4. I completely agree - make them an endless scroll.

Agree completely. I use shortcuts all the time, bookmarks very rarely. I have spent a lot of time curating shortcuts on desktop and I am unable to access them on Android.

Really is needed. The syncing currently gives a slightly false sense of security. As one assumes everything to be synced. The shortcuts on the new tab would be really ideal if they could be synced as well as addon placements

It seemed it worked when I installed Firefox to the new computer and virtual machines, but the shortcuts are messed up somehow. I think Mozilla added this feature, but there is a bug. Please fix it!

This thread started in Dec '22. 16 months on and no sign of changes. Such a simple but vital function that many of us need. I wonder if Mozilla reads these posts at all - or did they set up this forum as a rant cave?

Wow. @SilverKing 's solution works perfect and it's supper simple. I imagine this is trivial to implement. @Jon Just add "browser.newtabpage.pinned" to the list of synced elements and voilà!
