Firefox should be able to access Wikipedia despite censorship

Everyone using Firefox should be able to access Wikipedia and Wikinews without being stopped by regional censorship.

Mozilla could implement a mix of server side and client side technology, to ensure that Firefox users can access those sites, regardless of the user's location in the network.

This could be implemented by routing network requests for these sites through cooperative servers, ran by Mozilla or others, which are willing to provide that access. This advanced routing could be automatically used by Firefox whenever it detects that a direct network access to e.g. Wikipedia is impossible.

This suggestion is different from a general purpose VPN service. By limiting access to a small set of sites that were carefully selected by Mozilla, it might be acceptable to offer this service to anonymous users, because it avoids the risks for the service operator, that exist when enabling access to arbitrary sites.
