New idea
I recently noticed recent searches appearing in the separate search bar. I don't know how long that has been happening but I don't want it. Show Recent Searches is unchecked in Settings → Search → Search Suggestions and has been unchecked for as long as I remember. I have been told that the setting applies only to the urlbar, not the separate search bar.
