Status: New idea

Current behavior:
In the network monitor (opened to the right of the page) when I'm opening the details pane for a request the position of the pane is at the bottom when the overall DevTools width is small, but switches to the right when I drag it wider (responsive behavior).

Issue:
In my opinion this is annoying because the request list gets squeezed when it switches from bottom to the right. Usually I'm dragging the DevTools pane wider to see more information of the request list, but instead the list gets squeezed first because the details pane moves from bottom to the right and I have to drag it more and more (or close the details pane) to see more information of the list.

Idea:
I would like to have a layout option for the details pane to keep it in a fixed position (e.g. always at the bottom).

Yes, this has been requested in the past and I agree that it would be useful in many situations (also it's likely something that could work consistently across all side panels e.g. there is one in the Inspector panel too).

For the Network panel, there could be a new entries in the Settings menu (auto, right, bottom)

You might file a bug in our bug tracker, so this request is in our backlog:

Yes, please add a settings for that. Similar to what Chrome have in settings. It has options for horizontal, vertical and auto layout.
