In much the same way as a warning is fired if a file is suspected of being malicious, how about adding something like

The file being downloaded contains multiple periods (.),

Filename.pdf.exe

This is a common tactic used to spread malware, do you trust this file?

If the idea is simply to warn of hidden extensions, then surely there is a more direct way of testing for this than counting full stops?

I've downloaded plenty of legitimate files that have multiple full stops (setup files, for example). They might have filenames of the form:
some.example.filename.ext

I wouldn't want to have to deal with multiple warnings when queuing up several such files.
