I like being able to open up individual e-mails in their own tabs. Sometimes an e-mail has a lot of content and is going to take numerous sessions to read. I opened up one such e-mail recently and would read a little bit and scroll down as I did so. But every time I left that tab then came back to it it would reload the content and go back to the top of the e-mail thereby losing my place. Can we get Thunderbird to just not lose its place? Thank you. I realize there is a lot to developing all this and pleasing everyone.

Just want to say that this is probably more of a bug fix request than feature request. Thank you.

@WebDevCA,

This behavior is not a bug. It is due to the design of the program, so a functional request is reasonable. Below are the reasons why:

Thunderbird's tab status is stored in a file called session.json in the profile (although it is not the only tab-related information).

When Thunderbird is closed, the number, order, and selection status of tabs open at that time are written to session.json, and the next time Thunderbird is started, session.json is read to restore the tab display status to what it was at the end of the previous session.

Writing to session.json is basically when Thunderbird exits. It is not written immediately after each time a tab is opened or closed.

Because of this mechanism, the tab state always returns to its default state each time the tab is opened.

Okay, not a bug. Does what I'm asking for sound reasonable though?
