Please add the option to display subfolders in a collapsable tree structure like on the desktop:

inbox
    subfolder1
    subfolder2
    ...

instead of displaying all folder paths in a list like it is currently done:

inbox
inbox/subfolder1
inbox/subfolder2
...

This would add greatly to the ease of use and simplicity of the ui.

I have also a folder structure (3 levels) and its nearly impossible to use it. Its an endless long list.

I support the suggestion too - please add nested folder structures.

Hello

Having used Maildroid for years, alongside Thunderbird on Linux, Mac and Windows desktops, I'm a recent convert to Thunderbird Mobile, and I'm very impressed.

However, I have over 5,000 IMAP folders, and the way that Thunderbird Mobile displays them linearly is not usable/accessible. I remember trying K-9 years ago and rejecting it for the same reason.

Please take this as an up-vote to add hierarchical folders, with expand/collapse, bringing TM in line with Thunderbird Desktop?

Unfortunately I don't have the coding skills to volunteer on this.

Thanks Jonathan.

Making moves

I have used the great Thunderbird email program on Linux desktop for more than a decade, and I tried a few times to use K-9 mail on Android as a mobile equivalent. The lack of nested folders made the latter too difficult to use, though. When I heard that there will be Thunderbird for Android, I had no doubt that it will have nested folders, as the feature is pretty much essential for a lot of users, and people expect a certain level of functionality because of the name Thunderbird. I have to say I was quite surprised and disappointed that that Thunderbird for Android was published without nested folders, as I'm not going to be able to use it myself – nor will be a large number of other people.

Definitely a must have feature for me. I've used Thunderbird for email since it was the Mozilla Messaging Suite, and was hoping for a usable mobile app. I may well switch when this feature is added, but having just checked again and found it still absent I will continue to recommend FairEmail as the best Android email client (at least for me).

I thought for sure I was just missing some configuration setting. Then I got to searching and it's pretty incredible that this basic feature still has not been implemented

The current folder structure display is quite confusing, especially when dealing with many subfolders. An indented view that clearly shows the hierarchy would greatly improve navigation and organization. This is especially important for businesses and users managing large mailboxes, as a well-structured overview is essential for efficient workflow. It would be fantastic if this feature could be considered and implemented in future updates. I’d really appreciate it if Thunderbird could improve this.
