default search from searchbar option + curor snap to search bar option

Give us a simple checkbox option in settings to allow searches from the google search bar.   I just had to reinstall firefox (on 6/10/2024 so its obviously the latest version)  on my desktop computer and it kept transferring my search criteria from the google search bar to the URL address bar which I HATE for it to do.  That's weird because the search bar is there but it doesn't allow the search words to stay there by default.  I had to go into the config settings to get it to keep my search criteria in the search bar.   Finding the way to change that wasn't easy, I had to try several things I found on the web. 

while you are at it, give us a checkbox option to have the cursor snap to the search bar when a new tab is opened.  (don't know if that is possible, but it would be very handy if so)  I'm using windows 10 pro if that helps.

these options should appear in the search area of settings, the logical place for them.
