It would be great if there was a way to customize hotkeys.
Here's how I see it:
 * Have a about:hotkeys panel, with all actions listed, and already mapped shortcuts shown.
 * Whether these should be modifiable or not is up to the dev community, ideally they'd be.
 * When clicking on a hotkey field, ideally, there would be a capturing hotkey feature, or, before this, an AHK like syntax to define hotkeys (not as complex, something like: CTRL+H means this and MAJ+ALT+END means that...)

 * a restore to default button.
 * Done.

It can't be done with an extension because some function can't be accessed by extensions (I'm actually looking for a way to send tab to other device while browsing with TST.). Anyway, I believe this should boost productivity in a number of ways. You guys are devs, you know keyboards are faster than mice. 😛

edit: Corrected the typos, it's been bugging me for months now😅

I need to remove ctrl+shift+w, I have a window with over 1000 tabs, I open and close hundreds of them every day. Today I accidentally pressed shift. Reopening the window froze Firefox for 10 minutes, took 75GB of memory and way more in pagefile, and now each page needs to reload as I switch to that tab.
When trying to remap this shortcut using the extension, it just closes the window with options.

A MUST HAVE!  or I must ditch firefox.

I'm wainting this feature too.

Because with some keymaps, the selected shortkey combinaisons doesn't work.

Very necessary feature!
Almost all modern browsers allow you to change default shortcuts.

In my case, I am annoyed by:

  • cmd/ctrl shift c
  • cmd/ctrl shift w

Also, disabling any default shortcut will allow binding them to the installed addon/extension.
For example, I want to copy a link from the address bar with the shortcut "cmd shift c" instead of "option shift c" (which I set until this feature is implemented).

I love Firefox. But this feature one of few that really are must have.

Please implement the customizable hotkeys feature ‌🙏

Best regards, your loyal Firefox user.

made an account just to bump this again, switching to firefox to avoid chromium monopoly but having to use alt+N to change tabs is incredibly annoying

Yes I would love this to! Specifically I would like to change my tab switching keys from ctrl+tab/ctrl+shift+tab to super+alt+left/right like on a Mac. Just better UX.

Yes I would love this too, specifically I want to change the default tab switching shortcuts from ctrl+tab/ctrl+shift+tab to super+alt+l/r like on Mac.

How in the hell does Firefox not have custom keyboard shortcuts, it's been around for like 20 years.

This reminds me of what browsing history, bookmarks, and other settings are meant to help with. Who else with Firefox agrees? Heck, it ties back to when files are located on separate drives and network hubs. Do you see how? That is also why backing up users' and programs' data, of all sorts, is supposed to help. Now, we just need to provide our own legal services. Phone and Internet providers should not dominate their clients. Right?

Very frustrating; I want to use my F5 key to mute/unmute on my Mac.  I never ever ever use F5 to refresh.  When I'm muting/unmuting in a game, it refreshes the game window and I have to pull everything up again.  Please let us do this.

Well everybody, it has been almost two years since I first bumped a post on this forum asking for customizable keyboard shortcuts, and I regret to say that I am officially unsubscribing from updates on this feature.

Over the intervening years, I have continued to grow as a human being, and part of that growth has been the further customization of my Chrome experience -- tab groups, extensions, shortcuts, ... After reading this morning's pleading comment in my inbox, an echo of the dozens that have come before it, I stood up and went outside to gaze meaningfully into the distance, before ultimately coming to the conclusion that switching to Firefox now would just be too much of a hassle.

Should that blessed day arrive, I would only advise that you, the remaining faithful, immediately ride that wave of improbability directly into your local gas station and purchase a lottery ticket... or perhaps take a chance on something important that you have been putting off in your life. In any case, please know that I wish for you to one day have this update with all my heart.

It's been quite a journey, but this is me leaving.

Add a "Hotkey Editor" to the browser.

For example, when copying and pasting text, you might accidentally open the bookmarks bar with the Ctrl+B shortcut.

It would be convenient to move or remove this shortcut for better customization of your favorite browser.

Thank you!

Absolute must. I have been getting periodically frustrated by this and trying to find a workaround for years
