It would be great if there was a way to customize hotkeys.
Here's how I see it:
 * Have a about:hotkeys panel, with all actions listed, and already mapped shortcuts shown.
 * Whether these should be modifiable or not is up to the dev community, ideally they'd be.
 * When clicking on a hotkey field, ideally, there would be a capturing hotkey feature, or, before this, an AHK like syntax to define hotkeys (not as complex, something like: CTRL+H means this and MAJ+ALT+END means that...)

 * a restore to default button.
 * Done.

It can't be done with an extension because some function can't be accessed by extensions (I'm actually looking for a way to send tab to other device while browsing with TST.). Anyway, I believe this should boost productivity in a number of ways. You guys are devs, you know keyboards are faster than mice. 😛

edit: Corrected the typos, it's been bugging me for months now😅

I'd also like to see this feature in the near future, but in the meantime, if anyone is working from linux/mac (or possibly there is a way to do something similar on windows as well), you can work around this issue by setting a custom shortcut, running the firefox command (and parameterize it).

e.g. running firefox [URL] open a new tab, or instance (if not already open).

On windows I have set up autohotkey to remap my keys to my liking. Annoying but good enough.

Shortcut Customization Request

I'm enjoying the AI Chatbots sidebar, but I’d love the ability to change the message send shortcut. Currently, it requires Cmd + Enter (or Ctrl + Enter), but I’d prefer to just use Enter to send messages — similar to how other chat apps work.

It would be great if this behavior could be customizable in settings, or at least default to Enter to send and Shift + Enter for a new line, which feels more natural.

Thanks for the great work — this feature would make the experience smoother!

Please keep the default Hot Keys the primary option for each users' operating system. The customizable Hot Keys can be secondary, bias not interfering with any systems' or programs' or add-ons' default keys. Right, DOS? Mac OS-IX? Debian/Ubuntu? BlackBerry?

We need the ability to customize hotkeys; not being able to do so is so 2007.
After switching to Firefox, I had to relearn some of those, and after some time, I found out that you keep changing it (CTRL+E - gone, CTRL+J - gone). It is an unacceptable user experience and, honestly, it's baffling that after so many years, you don't offer the ability to change the hotkeys mapping.

Eh... could we have it?

Dumb Apple created "awesome" feature to re-arrange windows (it sucks) and mapped it to Fn+ctrl+cmd+shift + up/down. The same shortcut that Firefox that uses to move tabs up/down (left/right). I used it A LOT and took me a while to make myself stop using the shortcut to avoid "window disco"... I guess it's impossible to make Apple stop being dump so having Firefox being able to re-map the shortcuts would be AWESOME!

Hey Firefox Community,

I'm a heavy Firefox user across Windows, Linux, and macOS daily, and custom hotkeys are crucial for my workflow. It would be fantastic to have more flexibility in setting these up directly within Firefox.

For example, I use Alt+Ctrl+Z on Windows and Linux to toggle the sidebar. On macOS, it's Cmd+Z. It would be incredibly convenient if I could unify this to just Alt+Z on Windows and Linux as well. I know AutoHotkey is an option, but it's not something everyone is comfortable using.

Also, on macOS, I rely heavily on Fn+Ctrl+Cmd+Shift + Up/Down to quickly rearrange my tabs. Speaking of window management, while the new macOS tiling is there, I've found third-party tools like "Rectangle" to be significantly more advanced and intuitive. If you're on a Mac, I highly recommend checking it out – its implementation is still a step ahead of Apple's.

Having more built-in customization for hotkeys like these would really enhance the Firefox experience for users like me who jump between operating systems frequently. Thanks for considering!

I want to setup VIM-like keys or I want to remap "Ctrl+Shift+W" for "Close other tabs" like I did it in Chrome (with extension, but FF doesn't let me remap system shortcuts even with extension)

Adding another vote for this one.
Another example is code-server has a number of conflicting shortcuts with firefox (ctrl+shift+p to name one)
Would be great to have this ability implemented.

I agree. Recently, I haven't been a fan of how the sidebar is hidden using `Ctrl` + `Alt` + `Z`. Perhaps it could be `Ctrl` + `Shift` + `/` or `Ctrl` + `Alt` + `/`.

@Swehtc  - I'm with you!  On my RSI friendly keyboard typing Ctrl+Alt+Z is incredibly uncomfortable, and basically requires two hands.  😞
THE keyboard shortcut I want all the time can't be that uncomfortable to type!  😞

Firefox, really, just do it. I have no idea why you haven't done this yet. This isn't some fancy feature that you spend years thinking about, "hmmm should we add this or not?" Just do it.

There should be Customizable browser shortcuts

Like I use Ctrl+D for duplicating tabs and and Ctrl+E for reopening last closed tab heavily in Opera.

Why there is no customizable shortcuts?
