Update - in the mobile plan for 2026, not yet released, we plan to do some exploration of this idea. So there may not be code released, but there will be an evaluation.
It would be nice if it would be a separate app rather than part of Thunderbird Mobile. Even better, Lightning name could have a return in this form as Thunderbird Lightning as a dedicated mobile calendar app.
I got sick of using outlook on my mobile especially after the ADD been added. though, I switched to my favorite thunderbird as I am a long time user on Desktops. I was realy surprised that there is no Calender. I am glad to see many request here, and hope to see one if not better than outlook then at least equivalent.
Thanks team, your work has been appreciated for years!
Is Thunderbird also capable of registering on Eurostack, or not without a complex restructure? That would also be a great win.
We at Natural Capital AI (www.naturalcapitalai.com, open source github set for release next month) would love to also help with an energy management MCP for the calendar function - the commercial ones are.. mad.
my reverse / two way sync magically started working about a day after I posted the above, albeit with manual sync / update commands needed - I'll take it - the Provider provides! Thank you Mozilla! Energy calendar MCP coming from NCAI!
Absolutely! Calendar is one of the features of the Thunderbird desktop app that made it worthwhile swapping away from Outlook. An Android capability would be awesome.
This would be a great addition. I use Business Calendar at the moment that has to sync with google cal as the intermediary from the desktop TB Calendar (Lightning!). Would much prefer a direct sync link.
However, envisage a potential issue: unlike FF which has a central account, TB email has accounts all over (which would make a central account for TB difficult - yes, i know, the topic here is for the Calendar) but i reckon so does the Calendar,. But if a direct sync could be set that would be useful and so skip the google intermediary.
By this I mean that emails are replicated onto the desktop, even if saved for offline access, so syncing emails is tricky from a central acc aspect, but the calendar would have a live presence on the desktop
