I don’t think having AI built into Firefox is a good thing. Deepseek clients secretly upload traffic through background programs. Mozilla should focus on Firefox user experience. Rebuilding Firefox with Rust.
With AI becoming a thing in Firefox, I vote for European alternatives like Mistral. Also there's not any support on mobile Firefox for AI from what I've seen.
I disagree. Forcing an LLM to run on a mobile phone can seriously damage the hardware, especially the damage to the eMMC TBW and the loss of battery life will become very obvious. It is recommended that you really try a 1.5B distilled deepseek running on Termux. The speed is very slow, and the phone will get hot and the remaining running memory will drop significantly. After trying it, you won't have that kind of thought. Running LLM locally on the phone is very unrealistic.
I would prefer that there be an input option for me to enter the AI Chatbot I want to use and NOT have to select from a partial list of available options within Firefox.
As a side note, I would also like to see an input option for me to enter the search engine I want to use and NOT have to select from a partial list of available options within Firefox.
Over a year later: What is the update here? As a user I would like to decide with which company or model I share my data. What is the reason to include/exclude certain models?
AI intelligent chat robots currently only support Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini, Claude, Lechat, GPT
However, these chat robots are blocked for 1/5 of netizens, and these 1/5 of netizens are all from mainland China
As a loyal user, I speak on behalf of all Chinese netizens: it is recommended to support DeepSeek (also very popular internationally, model open source code can be deployed) (Official website: deepseek.com) to welcome more netizens to use chat robots
