Starting release of Firefox 127.0 the “browser.privateWindowSeparation.enabled” preference stopped working (I believe it was removed in the commit here: https://phabricator.services.mozilla.com/rMOZILLACENTRAL8adde2b08299cbe12d25785fcb0efdabb0057766) and now Firefox private and normal windows have their separate icon in the Windows taskbar. Could you restore that functionality? If not by bringing back the “browser.privateWindowSeparation.enabled” preference on the about:config page, then e.g. add a new setting on the Firefox settings page that does the same thing.

Ho @Venetia alright I see but just to clarify again when will the next update that is scheduled to fix the IoS private tab automatically closing when app is restarted or exited for iPhone issue be addressed or fixed. It would definitely help to have an ETA on the matter will it be in 127.03 or if it will be released somewhere in update 128?

Thank you to Mozilla for reversing this decision.

In my taskbar settings I chose the 'group by application' option because as a keyboard user I want to be able to cycle between all open windows of an application with win+# and ctrl+win+#, with one # per application.

For example, I have File Explorer pinned at #1 and so can access all open File Explorer windows with ctrl+win+1 etc.

I pin my most frequently used apps so that their # is always consistent.

By separating the Firefox windows I was facing the prospect of either having to permanently pin a second icon to my taskbar, or try to remember a potentially different # for each session of using a private window (is it win+7 to switch to the private window at the moment, or was it win+8? or win+9?).

I chose to group taskbar items by application to avoid both clutter and to avoid having to maintain several different #s to switch between windows of the same application.

Just thought I'd mention this as another benefit to not separating application windows on the taskbar, as well as the issues of privacy and clutter already mentioned by others on this thread.

So once again, thanks to developers for agreeing to revert to the previous situation where a user has the choice to combine all Firefox windows.

@Supreme_StarI understand.

I don't have an update on the IoS private tab and I've already raised it to the team.

@AgentvirtuelMany thanks, my friend. I really don't know about this userChrome.css.

This can solve my problem, and give me some customization that I like.
