In past when I bookmarked a link I could've added description or notes to it.

the type of notes I used to add to Description field:

  • where I learned about the website/link.
  • What that page or utility does
  • for some shopping sites, I would add the restriction of that websites, for example the minimum order, the locations they delivered to, what is the delivery cost etc.
  • Specially if it is outdated website, I add Issues that the website had and workarounds.

It is just useful when you needed it. right now I add these to the Name field. But it is not that efficient .

Yes I remember this description field, very useful
I don't understand these regressions!?
In any case, it is the minimum without necessarily adding many other fields

I'd like to add a tip/workaround to other folks here that I use Tags for my notes and comments which is absolutely not ideal, but I have horrible memory.

in tags field I add tags normally, but for notes/comments/description I suffix "description:"

here is an example of how I do it:

[how to, Photoshop, x, Y, Z, Description: this trick works only in this version, tutorials]

Bookmarking is horrible on all browsers that I tested, it is so slow and cumbersome.

like how come there is no auto tagging.

and WHY when you add a bookmark via the star button you can't search for a folder in the "Location" field, you have to find the folder in a tree list, it feels archaic, and you can't add icons to folders.

so Mozzila, add a search field under the "Location" filed to search for the folder, and when you hover over the result it says where the folder is located.

I used bookmark comments to save security login answers to websites.  I would prefer that a comment field be added to the password manager for security login answers, but would also like comments be brought back to bookmarks as well.

Seamonkey still uses description box for Bookmarks.  I'll save important bookmarks with descriptions in Seamonkey, but the Seamonkey browser works on fewer websites than the Firefox browser.

@OGUnfortunately, export Bookmarks in Firefox does not export tags or keywords.
