3d view : https://firefox-source-docs.mozilla.org/devtools-user/3d_view/index.html

3D view, appart from being very cool to look at is very useful to see how a webpage is structured, see hidden elements, and see whats broken. It's very useful if you're just curious or if you're a web developper.

Don't have much more arguments for it, I guess it would be useful to copy images that are hidden behind links and edge cases like those.

Hi, thank you for reaching out! We currently don't have any plans to revive this tool. It looks cool, but we don't see big value in it. Sorry about that.

@Honza

Yeah I guessed it would not be an important feature, I just think it deserves a feature request ^^

Bring back 3D view in dev tools

Mozilla unfortunately removed 3D view starting from Firefox 47. I am a web developer hence I actively use dev tools to inspect my HTML documents and 3D view is an extremely useful tool to solve various issues, in particular those related to z-index.

Chromium based browsers have a 3D view tool and it's a shame Firefox doesn't, especially Firefox developer edition! I find particularly useful Chromium 3D view's texture view which makes analysing the page even easier.

I believe that many developers would find this tool very useful and that it would improve many's development experience.

Note that the same question has been asked here: https://connect.mozilla.org/t5/ideas/bring-back-3d-view/idc-p/31199#M17806

Related documentation is available: https://firefox-source-docs.mozilla.org/devtools-user/3d_view/index.html

Unfortunately, we do not plan to bring the tool back. As I mentioned in the other thread, pages in 3D look really cool, but we don’t see much product value in them (at last not at the moment), sorry about that. However, thank you for reaching out, I appreciate it!

Although moz team won't disclose the real reason of this removal. I do appreciate the work they have put into the browser, it has helped in mor than many ways while learning web development. Ty, hope the feature comes back 🙂

I love firefox - Here is a big use case, and there is actually a lot of value IMO:

For example, I make hobby products and the AR 3d model view capability to 'view in space' is really really useful to show customers a quite accurate AR model - to see if the product is the right size for their needs.
